After dinner liqueurs are a special realm of treats. Sweet and boozy, they’re a dessert and a drink all rolled into one. One of the top tier drinks in this space is Bailey’s Irish Cream which fuses the flavours of Irish Whisky, coffee, chocolate and vanilla into one tasty package.
Having guests over for Christmas can be a stressful affair. For most, it’s a holiday that’s centred around food, drink and merriment. So when it comes time to serving up lunch or dinner, the pressure’s on to lay out a lavish spread. Now while there are plenty of options in the food space that you can explore, the drinks side is a bit more complicated. Most cocktails require a number of specialised ingredients or a certain skill level to create. But this home-style Bailey’s substitute can be made quickly and easily in your own kitchen.
Traditionally, Bailey’s is made with the freshest cow’s milk straight from the Irish dairy farms along with a secret formula of chocolate, coffee and vanilla flavours and then blended with fine Irish whisky. So given all that, this may not measure up to the OG drink, but it’s a pretty close substitute, and definitely a lot less expensive!
