New 78 Legends Bourbon A 5 Year, 50 Year Blend Celebrating A NCAA Championship

Louisville’s Frazier Kentucky History Museum has teamed up with three 1978 NCAA basketball champions to to help release an upcoming, limited-edition bourbon.

The new spirit, 78 Legends, is a blend of Kentucky 5-year and 50-year bourbon whiskeys, made to honor the players and the coaches of Kentucky’s 1978 NCAA Championship team.

A statement from the museum explains that each bottle was dipped in Kentucky blue wax and signed exclusively by three players from the title-winning team … Jack “Goose” Givens, Rick Robey, and Kyle Macy.

A release party is slated for Feb. 2nd, at the Frazier History Museum in Louisville, and those iconic players will be on hand to talk about and revel in the 1977–78 championship season. They’ll be joined by the program’s host, Kentucky’s all-time leading scorer, Dan Issel.

“This is a very limited-edition bourbon,” said Frazier Museum president and CEO, Andy Treinen. “Some of it was already aging in the barrel when they won the title. This program is a chance to learn about the project and hear these legends reminisce about the championship.”

Only 1,978 bottles were made, and each bottle is hand numbered.

Admission to the event is $1,978 (plus tax), which is the price of the bottle and collectors’ package. It includes admission for two (the purchaser plus one guest) to the gala. Admission is exclusively available to bottle purchasers.
