William Alan Straight Bourbon Whiskey is the first namesake bourbon out of Hollow Creek Distillery. As a tribute to the Amick family legacy, the name pays homage to both sides of the family’s lineage, which have worked independently in the Leesville, South Carolina, region for 9 generations.

Master Distiller Craig Amick and his wife Meredith are the founders and owners of Hollow Creek Distillery, which opened six years ago when they started distilling and bottling local moonshine. They’ve crafted eight flavored varieties of moonshine, which are only available at their distillery.

William Alan Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a small batch bourbon made up of a high malt grain bill that is aged for a minimum of four years in charred oak barrels. Then it is finished in toasted oak barrels for a minimum of three months. It is distilled and bottled at the family-owned and -operated distillery, where “board meetings happen daily around the dinner table.”

At 90 proof/45% ABV, William Alan Straight Bourbon Whiskey is delicate and very approachable on both the nose and the palate. It would be a nice summer season whiskey, since it’s not as overly warm. Even though it’s a gentler whiskey it still has a lot going on as far as its broad flavor profile.  William Alan Straight Bourbon Whiskey won Double Gold at the 2022 New York International Spirits Competition, where Hollow Creek Distillery was also named South Carolina Distillery of the Year.
